WYCCP Covid-19 Update – September 2020: referrals welcome

The WYCCP staff team are all back working in our office at HMP Leeds with health and safety precautions in place.  Staff were home based between March and June providing invaluable support to service users through telephone calls throughout lockdown.

We are accepting new referrals for men who will be returning to live in West Yorkshire after release from prison and for the families of men in HMP Leeds.  Referrals can be made by individuals, families and other agencies.

We are supporting our service users by telephone, in the office by appointment and in the community, with social distancing.

WYCCP continues to specialise in working with chaotic men with complex needs. We work with both CRC and NPS clients including men on life licences and take referrals for men already in the community. We work alongside other agencies in many cases and add value to the work of the probation services.  Our support offer is open ended and we provide in depth intensive support where needed. We especially welcome referrals for men aged 25 and under.

Our main eligibility criterion is that men / families must be residing in West Yorkshire for the period that we support them.  We do not work with men convicted of sex offences. We can support the families of men who have committed sexual harm.

Our In-to-Out counselling project, in partnership with Jigsaw Visitor Centre, offers a free of charge counselling service to the families of men serving a prison sentence and to men who have left prison. We are currently offering telephone counselling appointments and/or socially distanced face-to-face appointments in the Jigsaw Visitors’ Centre counselling room.
