Counselling Service
WYCCP Resettlement Service, offers a free of charge counselling service for our service users - men who have been in prison and prisoner’s families.
What is counselling?
Counselling is often referred to as ‘talking therapy’. Your counsellor will be there to support and encourage you to talk about your thoughts, feelings or difficulties you might be facing. It is not about your counsellor telling you what to do.
We currently offer face to face counselling in a confidential space.
“I have valued and appreciated the sessions, especially when I’ve felt overwhelmed”
What can I expect to happen?
Your counsellor will encourage you to talk in depth about your thoughts, feelings and emotions. The process will help you to find solutions to cope with your situation and see things more clearly and will enable you to achieve greater insight and understanding of yourself.
Counselling sessions take place in a safe, confidential and therapeutic space, usually once a week.
How many counselling sessions will I have?
We do not limit the number of times you can meet with your counsellor. The number of sessions varies from person to person.
